The PSW654-8MK is the higher-capacity version of the 9,000 lb 12V worm gear winch — 12,500 lb pulling capacity from the same 1.5 HP motor by way of a deeper 728.5:1 gear reduction. The trade-off is line speed: 9 fpm versus 14 fpm on the standard 470:1 version. Compact 8 in drum.
How does the higher gear ratio give more pulling capacity?
Mechanical advantage. The 728.5:1 reduction trades line speed for torque at the drum — the motor turns more times per foot of rope pulled, so each pound of motor output multiplies into more pounds of pulling force. Same motor, same wiring, same brake, just a different gear ratio inside the housing.
- 12,500 lb rated pulling capacity
- 12V DC, 1.5 HP motor — 400 amp peak draw
- Worm gear drive, 728.5:1 extended reduction
- 9 fpm max line speed
- Worm gear brake — mechanically self-locking, no clutch slip
- Cast metal construction
- 8 in drum (3.5 in × 8 in), holds 100 ft of ⅜ in wire rope
- Recommended battery: 650 CCA | Wire: 2 gauge
- Pierce SKU PSW654-8MK — built to order in 1–2 business days
For lighter pulling at higher line speed, see the 9,000 lb 12V Worm Gear Winch (8 in Drum). For more line capacity on the longer drum, see the 12,500 lb 12V Worm Gear Winch (11 in Drum).
⚠️ Never use a winch for lifting or moving people. Pulling and recovery use only.
